IT'S NESTING TIME.
The birds need calcium for stronger eggs.
Here is my post about saving your eggshells:

FIRST BLOOMS OF SPRING~BRIGHT YELLOW FORSYTHIA & REDBUD TREES

FIRST BLOOMS OF SPRING~BRIGHT YELLOW FORSYTHIA & REDBUD TREES

The weather has been so beautiful the past few days.
There are little yellow butterflies and some little ones that are a pumpkin orange flitting around, happy the weather is nice enough for them to come out of their winter hiding places.

But, tonight another cold front is coming in and right behind that one is a really cold front.  So, next week is going to be in the 30's and 40's.  Brrrrr!
Thank goodness, in south Texas the weather is constantly changing and we won't be cold for very long.
The house where I'm working finally had real heat today, so I will be warm next week.  This house is way out in the country in a gated community and a really beautiful area.  There are lots of deer.  When I first get there in the morning, they're running and playing.  Right after noon they are resting in the shade.  I was thinking the ones resting are the mommies-to-be in a couple of months.  I'm sorry that I probably won't still be working out there, but would love to see the tiny fawns.

While driving around I am seeing the very first blooms of spring and those are bright yellow forsythias.  And, my redbud trees are blooming.  Honeybees just love the blooms and there were lots of them on my trees.  I have several redbud trees.
Tomorrow is my day off.  Yay!!
Hoping my friends have a good week ahead and stay warm!!

BYE BYE SOW THISTLE & THE OWLS ARE BACK!

BYE BYE SOW THISTLE & THE OWLS ARE BACK!

Today, I finally pulled up this sow thistle.
When it first starts growing, the lesser and american goldfinches  just love hanging on it and eating something.  Not sure if they're eating bugs or seeds.  For a week or so the finches no longer eat from it, so bye bye thistle.  I know it's a weed growing in my flower bed, but I love seeing the finches on it.  The flower bed looks really nice now that it's gone.

Early this morning I could hear the owls again.  They've been gone for about three weeks.  I guess they move around for food sources.  So, so glad they came back and love hearing them again.
Regarding the monarch butterfly chrysalises, this winter has been so interesting watching their life stages.  I've kept notes and one of these days I'll create a journal about what I've observed and learned about them.
Today, the red-winged blackbirds are here at the feeders.  They're migrating through on their way back home, wherever that is.  They're such beautiful birds.
When I got home from work, the bright red cardinal and  his mate were in the crepe myrtle by my front porch, just chirping and chirping.  I thought "how pretty" and then I realized that they were chirping at my Punkin cat and the neighbor cat.  I'm guessing there's a nest nearby and they're trying to distract them.  I tried to find a nest, but don't see it yet.  I sprinkled a lot of cayenne pepper on the ground around the base of two thick shrubberies where the cardinals have nested before.  I'm hoping that will deter the cats.
I don't usually work in homes being built, but this was a special request for me to paint a special finish on allll the cabinets in this huge beautiful home.  There is no heat and very little light.  The electricians were there today and said they will have lights installed so I can see what I'm doing tomorrow.  There are several big lantern type heaters on the patio and the supervisor told me he would have one for me tomorrow.  I was sooooo cold working today, but got a lot done.  The weather is supposed to start warming up, thank goodness.  It's only in the 30's and 40's here, but that's cold to me!  All of those snow storms in the east are just amazing.
I guess I'm a sissy painter, but I want to be comfortable while I'm working.
Tomorrow will be a better day for me and I hope you have a good rest of the week, too.

I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR MY GLASSES!

I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR MY GLASSES!

A couple of days ago I was cleaning the pond filter and must have dropped them.
I've been looking all over the yard.  Today I found them!

Little Charlie's birthday was on the 12th.  He turned eleven years old.
This picture was taken when he was four.

TINY BABY CHICKS AT THE FEED STORE.

Today, I went by the feed store for birdseed.
As soon as I walked in the front door, I could hear the cheeping and peeping of these tiny two day old chicks.  They were so, so cute.
On my grandparents' farm, we used to call them biddies.

I wish I could have chickens for the fresh eggs, but my backyard just isn't big enough.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY MARKING THINGS OFF OF MY LIST

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY, MARKING THINGS OFF OF MY LIST

I have so many things to do, I'm confused!
A long time ago, I heard a lady say that maybe you can't do everything at once, but you can do something.  So, I'm going to focus and finish one important thing on my desk.  I know I will feel like I've accomplished something and that's a really good feeling for me.  I'll mark that off of my list and get to the next project.  Hope you have a productive day, too.
