A SQUIRREL CHEWED THROUGH MY GARDEN SHED SCREEN DOOR!!

Recently, I had to replace the screen in my garden shed door.

Instead of putting the bird seed back in the big garbage can, it was easier to leave the sacks on the floor of the garden shed.  I noticed some holes in the screen and then, through the laundry room window, I was able to take a photo of the culprit!!  That squirrel had chewed holes in my screen to get to the sunflower seeds.  The yellow tape was to deter the squirrel.  I twisted several pieces so it would be sticky.
After a couple of days, the handyman came to replace the screen.  Even though I had chosen a much thicker screen, he said that squirrel might chew through it, too.  So, I'm keeping the birdseed in the big trash can, again.
Everything is hungry and trying to survive.
(I understand, but it doesn't make me like the squirrel!!)

    1. Yes! I don't mind that they come here to drink water, but wish they would go back and stay in someone else's yard!! Charlie and I are always chasing them away from the bird feeders.

  3. I had one chew through the screen of a low kitchen window to get at the blueberry pecan coffee cake cooling on the kitchen table. Luckily the dog was in the house and the squirrel made a quick exit back out the window without getting at the cake.
What about using a metal screen in your door? They can be a nuisance.

    1. Well, I think I would climb through that window for that delicious coffee cake!! I did get a heavier hardware cloth screen, but the handy man said the squirrel could still chew through it. I hoping not!

  4. I am not as annoyed at the squirrel who is coming into my greenhouse as I am at the lazy dog and cat who are ignoring him. I thought when he exited once through the vent fan that was on it would teach him, but he manged to go through the corner. A trap may be next.

    1. Oh my! I do know what you mean!! My cats lie on and near the front porch while the doves eat their food on the front porch. Good luck with the trap.

    1. Oh my goodness!! That was a real surprise!! Right now, I'm battling a skunk that will not take "get out of here!!!" I just put a have-a-heart trap with salmon in it. Sure hopes he gets in there.

    1. Thanks! They are really destructive and a bit aggressive with the birds. But, I do love nature and have to deal with the squirrels, too.

    1. The squirrels are a problem. My garden shed is only a few years old and built with Hardie siding and a nice roof with ridge vents. I designed mine and a guy built it for me. Mine has a custom look with a stained glass window to decorate it. I LOVE my garden shed!.
